Review: Firelight by Sophie Jordan

With her rare ability to breathe fire, Jacinda is special even among the draki—the descendants of dragons who can shift between human and dragon forms. But when Jacinda’s rebelliousness leads her family to flee into the human world, she struggles to adapt, even as her draki spirit fades. The one thing that revives it is Will, whose family hunts her kind. Jacinda can’t resist getting closer to him, even though she knows she’s risking not only her life but the draki’s most closely guarded secret. –Goodreads

I was never much of a dragon lover until now, so thank you Sophie for making me a believer and lover of dragons or should I say draki. In this first draki novel you meet Jacinda a draki (dragon descendant). Her mom forces her to leave her world for the human world after an incident hoping that her draki side would die away. Instead Jacinda meets Will the only person that keeps her draki alive but also a draki hunter.

This book sucked me in from the beginning. There were a few parts that I felt dragged but it picked up again fairly quickly. In a way it reminded me of Twilight, because it had first love/crush and how the person they want to be with is not good for them. Jacinda twins sister Tamra struck a nerve with me. She act as if she is the victim and never gets her way, I cannot stand whiny people like that. Now lets get back to Will and Jacinda the real reason for the story. Their love is fresh and full of emotion. What makes their love even more sizzling hot (besides her being a fire breather, haha no pun intended) is because it’s forbidden. The hunter and its prey, what a love story! Heed my warning though, this book will definitely leaving you wanting more.

Author Interview: Lisa Sanchez

Today on the blog we have Lisa Sanchez, author of Eve of Samhain!

1) If you could pick one of your own characters to accompany
you to the beach, which one would you pick. Why?
Woohoo! We’re starting off with an easy question. I like it! I’d
pick Quinn for sure. Not only is he super shmexy, he’s also witty
and looks fabulous in a pair of board shorts. And really, who
wouldn’t want a sex god rubbing suntan lotion all over their nearly
naked body?

2) Where is your favorite vacation spot?
I’d have to go with Kauai. My family and I traveled there a few
years ago for my sister’s wedding, and I didn’t want to leave.

3) Do you have an ideal summer snack?
I’ll pretty much eat anything you put in front of me (she laughs.)
However, when it’s smokin’ hot out, I must admit I’m partial to
fruit salad. Oh yeah, baby. Give me some sliced up watermelon,
strawberries and grapes, and I’m a happy girl. Throw in some
blackberries and I’m giddy.

4) What is your most anticipated book release of the summer?
Tough question! I have a few! Definitely looking forward to
reading Gena Showalter’s The Darkest Lie. Love Gideon! I’m
also looking forward to Maggie Stiefvater’s Linger, and Eternity
and a Day by J.A. Saare.

5) Flip flops….or barefoot?
Flops for sure. I live in them year round.

6) Lay on the sand, or swim in the ocean?
I’m not the strongest swimmer. I’m also not fond of seaweed,
sharks or sea-life of any kind. Yeah, I’m a total sissy-foo-foo girl.
I much prefer to slap on some sunscreen and soak up the sun on
my oversized beach towel.

7) Do you have a special spot that you write during the summer?
My hubby’s always trying to get me to bring my laptop outside and
write by the side of the pool. No can do. It’s too distracting, the
glare off the screen bothers my eyes, and if it got wet, I might have
to maim someone. I prefer my ugly, brown, easy chair inside my
air conditioned home.

8) What is your favorite summer memory?
Nothing beats hangin’ by the pool with family, friends and good
food. Some of my best memories are of watching my daughter’s
and their friends getting tossed into the pool by their fathers, and
talking smack with my best girls over chips and dip. Good times!

9) What is your favorite part of your book, Eve of Samhain?
The shower scene in chapter seventeen, hands down. Just
thinking about that scene makes my breath catch and sends my
pulse racing. (Fans self) Did it get hot in here all of a sudden?

10) What are you working on now? Can you share a bit?
You bet! I’m currently polishing up the sequel to EOS, which is
Martha’s story. I can’t tell you anything other than this: Martha is
a complete and total badass! Squee!
I also just finished up a romantic suspense I’m really excited about.
The hero is raw, and wounded, and oh-so-sexy. I think I’m in love.

Thanks so much Lisa for the great interview! For all of you bloggers that have signed up to be apart of our Summer “Beach Reads” Challenge tomorrow I am going to be hosting a giveaway and one lucky winner will receive Lisa’s novel Eve of Samhain!
